The boxes were branded "Export" when they were first released in 1928 by Macdonald Tobacco as Macdonald's Gold Standard, and they became well-known by that moniker. The product line's Export A is the most recognizable. Rolling tobacco for cigarettes and cigars is made from excellent Virginia leaf tobacco.
