#1. Ride the “Ghost Train” in Stanley Park
Every year around Halloween, the Stanley Park transforms into a spooky theme park, full of crafts, movies, exhibits, and a pumpkin patch. It is a perfect activity to do with the kids. This year’s theme? Alice in Nightmareland. Get your tickets today.
#2. Go see a movie. Vancouver has great independent films.
Go to the Rio Theatre on 1660 East Broadway this autumn to see any number of award-winning short films or independent films. On September 30th, for example, go check out the “grindhouse psychodrama” Killer Queen. You could also attend the Vancouver International Film Festival, which starts this Thursday, 9/26.
#3. Attend a VIP Revolucion Party

#5. Experience all that fall has to offer at the VanDusen Botanical Garden
This October, for example, the VanDusen Botanical Garden has the following in bloom: Eastern North American and Gingko trees, Autumn Crocus, Fatsia, Rudbeckia, Asters, and Hydrangeas. Check it out while you still can.
#6. Visit Maplewood Farm
Maplewood Farm is a great attraction in Vancouver, and that’s even truer in the fall. At Maplewood, there are donkeys, sheep, rabbits, cows, pigs, and their website even features a live goat cam. This Autumn 2019, go pet some animals.
#7. The Wizard’s Cauldron Bar
Vancouver Muggles should prepare themselves because a 19+ Harry Potter-themed experience is coming to Vancouver. The Wizard’s Cauldron Bar is popping up in Vancouver this fall, and it will offer wizards and witches an immersive 90-minute boozy Hogwarts potion class.
Each ticket will include a robe and wand (for the duration of the class) on entry, a hot mead and alcoholic potion, and a 90-minute potion session. There will also be a cash bar for more drinks and food available for purchase on-site. Learn more.
#8. Visit the Museum of Anthropology
If it gets too cold outside this autumn, it might be best to find some indoor activities. Right now, the Museum of Anthropology has a show called, “Shadows, Strings, and Other Things,” all about the “enchanting theatre of puppets.” Even if you’ve visited the Museum of Anthropology before, there’s always something new going on. Vancouver Police Museum presents a variety of cult classic horror films, thrillers and comedies in the Old City Morgue. Attendees are welcome to bring pillows and blankets to cozy up in the morgue. There will be fresh popcorn and pop for sale.
