Herman Upmann was a German banker who fell in love with Cuban cigars and moved to Havana in 1844 to set up shop as both a banker and a cigar maker. His bank closed in the early 1920s, but his cigars remain a fine example of an elegant, Mild-Medium flavored Habano.

This toro has a rich, opulent draw with layers of honey, gingersnap cookie, and caramel with a trace of black tea and an almond flavor that progressively gets more distinct. It's wrapped in a chocolate-hued wrapper with some tiny veins. It's both complex and wonderful.
